Beijing reduces flights, bans new airlines
BEIJING - China's aviation authority, citing safety concerns, has announced plans to scale back flights at overstretched Beijing airport and ban the creation of new airlines before 2010.
China's airlines have carried 19.6 percent more passengers so far this year than last year, straining ground support, the General Administration of Civil Aviation of China, known by its initials, CAAC, said in a statement posted on its Web site.
Emirates doubles flights to Beijing
Emirates, the Dubai-based global airline, launched its double daily services to Beijing from 1st May, four months prior to celebrating the anniversary of its first flight to the city last year.
Initially the airline has increased its services from the current daily to 12 flights every week, and from 1st July the busy Dubai-Beijing route will feature a double-daily non-stop service.
